Can I Give My Dog Cherries?
As a doting pet parent, I want to give my dog whatever she desires – within reason. For instance, I usually don’t allow her to eat human food. There are, however, some exceptions. I do allow my furry friend to have a couple of bites of cherries when the fruit is in season. Pet MD reported that the tasty fruit has plenty of health benefits for our furry friends, like melatonin, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and plenty of fiber.
That being said, I am careful to remove the cherry’s pit and stem before giving my dog a nibble. According to the American Kennel Club, the stem and pit could lead to choking. They also have trace amounts of cyanide. In addition, only give the fruit to your furry friend in moderation, as your canine companion could end up with tummy issues if they ingested too much of it.
In addition, you should always speak to your dog’s vet before introducing anything new to your furry friend’s diet.
