Chace Crawford revealed he’s co-parenting his beloved rescue dog, Shiner, with his ex-girlfriend, actress Rebecca Rittenhouse, in a June 2024 appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Crawford, who plays The Deep, said that the situation is not ideal. However, he explained that he and Rittenhouse, who is currently engaged to Kyle Robiskie, opted to share Shiner because “it’s all about the dog.”
"I don’t think it’s a weird thing at all. People think it’s the funniest thing. I’m like it actually is the only way to have a dog,” stated the Gossip Girl star.
He also said he and his ex-girlfriend are “still friends and cordial.”
In addition, he clarified that he and Rittenhouse do not interact that often. Crawford explained that she has “the key to [his] house” and will let herself inside to retrieve Shiner.
Crawford also stated that he will only date individuals who are okay with his and Rittenhouse’s co-parenting agreement.
“This dog takes precedent. I think I might love this dog more than my future child. I’m not even kidding. I would die for that dog,” said the actor.

Jensen Ackles, who plays Soldier Boy, is a proud pup parent. During a 2024 Supernatural convention in Chicago, Ackles shared that his 80-pound pup named Frank has some destructive tendencies. According to the actor, his furry friend broke two windows because he saw deer outside and couldn’t fight off his urge to chase the animal.
Jack Quaid
While The Boys star Jack Quaid doesn’t own a pup, he’s a total sweetheart when it comes to interacting with rescue dogs.
During a March 2025 interview on the “Drew Barrymore Show,” Quaid greeted Barrymore’s adorable rescue pup named Douglas. The actor knelt down while saying, “Look at this distinguished gentleman.” Barrymore said she appreciated that Quaid got “low” to make her dog feel more comfortable.
“You’re a good man,” said Barrymore to Quaid, who plays The Boys character, Hughie Campbell.
Quaid explained that he is conscious that some animals are afraid of him because of his height.
“I’m very tall. Usually with animals they are like that is a mountain and I should not approach him! So I’m just like, ‘Hi! How are you?’” said Quaid.
