The Cast of 'Supernatural' & Their Adorable Dogs

From the ages of 13 to 17, I was completely obsessed with the CW series, Supernatural. It genuinely got to the point where my grades during my sophomore year of high school were slipping because I was spending all of my time reading Supernatural fanfiction. Anyway, the show, which obviously has a very special place in my heart, is celebrating its 20th anniversary. In honor of that major milestone, we thought we’d celebrate the biggest dog lovers on the show’s cast. 

Without further ado, here is the cast of Supernatural and their adorable dogs. 

Jared & Genevieve Padalecki

Jared Padalecki, who famously played Sam Winchester, and his wife, Genevieve Padalecki, who appeared as the demon Ruby, have an adorable Golden Retriever named Bridger. Jared introduced his furry friend to his fans in a May 2021 Instagram upload. The picture showed Jared holding the sweet pup. 

“The wait is finally over! @genpadalecki and I welcomed our new baby, Bridger, home this week. He has blonde hair, brown eyes, and is only slightly slobbery.  I look forward to tossing the ol’ pigskin around with him someday.  #ProudDad #GoodestBoy,” read the caption of the post. 

Jensen Ackles

Like his on-screen brother, the Dean Winchester actor is a proud pup parent. During a 2024 Supernatural convention in Chicago, Ackles shared that his 80-pound pup named Frank has some destructive tendencies. According to the actor, his furry friend broke two windows because he saw deer outside and couldn’t fight off his urge to chase the animal. 

Misha Collins

Misha Collins, who played everyone’s favorite angel, Castiel, also has a Golden Retriever. Collins announced he and his family had adopted the pup named Hazel in a 2020 Instagram post. 

Jeffrey Dean Morgan

While Jeffrey Dean Morgan’s character, John Winchester, was a pretty terrible father, that’s not the case for the actor! He’s a devoted dad to both his children of the human and canine variety. Fans of the Walking Dead actor are well aware that he and his wife, actress Hilarie Burton, often rescue dogs in need. For instance, Morgan shared that he and Burton adopted their three-legged dog, Irwin, from The Sato Project, an animal rescue helping “abandoned pups in Puerto Rico,” in an October 2021 Instagram post. 

Felicia Day

Felicia Day, who played the delightfully nerdy Charlene "Charlie" Bradbury, has a super cute rescue pup named Sara Lavender.
