How Long Can My Dog Be in a Crate?
While I desperately want to be able to spend all my time in my dog’s presence, sometimes it’s not feasible. When I do have to leave my home without my furry friend by my side, I let her have full range of the house. I know this can be a controversial decision among pet parents, but she does not chew on anything that’s not her toys. Throughout her eight years of life, she has proven herself trustworthy. Well, except when she threw a massive rager with all the other neighborhood dogs. But we don’t need to get into that at this moment.
Anyway, I know many pup parents choose to have their dogs confined in crates when they are by themselves. Now, crate training can be quite beneficial. According to the American Kennel Club, your furry friend will likely feel safe and sound in the relatively small space. However, dog owners should be cognizant of the amount of time their furry friend is in their crate.
The Humane Society reported owners should only crate their puppies, six months or younger, under five hours. According to Reader’s Digest, adult dogs can be in their crates for two more hours than their younger counterparts.
