Can I Give My Dog Mangos?

Summer is almost here, meaning many delicious fresh fruits are finally in season. This includes my favorite — mangos.

Now, every time I cut open a mango, my furry friend looks ever-so-sweetly at me and politely asks if she can have a bite. While I never want to deny her having a tasty time, I don’t want to give her something that could harm her.

Thankfully, for my furry friend, it is fine for many dogs to have a small piece of mango. PetMD reported that mangos can benefit your furry friend as the fruit has plenty of vitamins and minerals, including Vitamin A, Vitamin B6, Vitamin C, Vitamin E, and Potassium.

According to PetMD, however, the fruit is not suitable for dogs with diabetes. In addition, you should always speak to your dog’s vet before changing up their diet!

The American Kennel Club also warns that you should never give your dog a mango unless it is peeled. The pit also needs to be removed as it could cause your furry friend to choke.
