Everything You Need to Know About Sydney Sweeney's Rescue Dog
Sydney Sweeney has certainly made a splash in Hollywood over the last couple of years. The actress has shown her incredible range in hit projects like “Euphoria,” “The White Lotus,” and “Anyone But You,” co-starring Glen Powell.
Not only is Sweeney an incredible actress, but she is also a devoted dog mom to a very good girl named Tank. Sweeney’s beloved pitbull appeared in a dog-focus issue of Vogue, appropriately called Dogue, in August 2024. While speaking to the publication, Sweeney shared that when she was about 17 years old, she adopted the dog without her parents’ permission. According to Sweeney, the dog was not in the best health when she first came across her. She felt it was her responsibility to adopt the pup, much to her parents’ chagrin. Sweeney said she was grounded because of her decision to bring home the furry friend.
Sweeney also shared why she decided to name her furry friend Tank.
“I wanted her to grow up and be a big tank—be my protector,” said the actress.
In addition, Sweeney shared that her mother did not approve of the dog’s name.
“My mom was kind of mad at me for naming her Tank. She said everybody’s going to be confused and think that it’s a boy dog. So my mom had nicknames like Tanky or Tankerella. I say Tankster sometimes, and Mama Bear,” said the actress.
Sweeney also shared that her canine companion is often by her side, even on movie sets.
“She will literally lay under the camera and not move. The moment we call action, she stops moving and doesn’t make a sound. Then you call cut and then she gets up. It’s amazing,” said Sweeney.
In addition, the 26-year-old revealed that her furry friend inspired her to want to be a successful actress. She explained that she always wanted her pup to live in a house with a backyard.
“My whole dream, since I got her in high school, was to be able to get her a backyard,” said Sweeney.
In the Vogue interview, Sweeney also shared that she wished she could communicate to her dog “how much [she] love[s] her.”
