Can I Give My Dog a Plum?

With summer just a few months away, I'm looking forward to all the delicious fruit that will finally be in season, including one of my personal favorites – plums.

While I try not to allow my furry friend to eat too much human food, I'll occasionally let her have some fruit and vegetables. Lucky for her, plum will be on the menu this summer. According to PetMD, it is fine for your furry friend to eat a small amount of plum as a snack. The publication reported that fruit has some benefits, as it is high in Vitamin A, Vitamin C, and potassium.

You do need to get rid of the pit prior to allowing your dog to eat the fruit, per Petco. Petco also warns that if your furry friend has too much plum, they could experience an upset stomach due to the fruit’s high sugar content. In addition, you should always speak to your dog’s vet before adding anything new to their diet.
