Can Dogs Eat Eggs?

Every so often I will get on a boiled egg kick. (What usually happens is I eat way too many hard-boiled eggs in one sitting and never want to see an egg again for several months. The cycle will then repeat.)

Anyway, when I prepare eggs, my furry friend will ask ever-so-politely if she could have a bite or two. Now, if you know me, you are aware I have a hard time saying “no” to my dog. Her basket of over 40 toys is proof of that. However, I am cautious about what I feed her, as I do not want her to get ill.

Thankfully for her, many dogs have no issue consuming cooked eggs in moderation, as reported by WebMD. Not only does the food have a good amount of protein, but it also has plenty of Vitamin A, Vitamin B-12, Riboflavin, Folic acid, and Omega-3 fatty acids. However, you should refrain from allowing your dog to eat uncooked eggs, as your furry friend could get ill from salmonella, per the American Kennel Club.

Further, some canines can have an allergy to eggs. For this reason, it is important to speak to your vet to see if eggs are a suitable treat to give your canine companion.
