Which Vegetables Are Safe For Dogs To Eat?

I don’t mean to brag, but my dog is ridiculously cute (she looks like a teddy bear who came to life). Unfortunately, this means that she is extremely spoiled. One of my worst traits as a pup parent is that I always want to give her my scraps because, frankly, she deserves it. However, most of the food I eat is not healthy for dogs. (Full disclaimer I mostly eat mini muffins, clam chowder from a can, and frozen meals). I do try to make up for my poor diet by forcing myself to eat fresh vegetables. Thankfully, there are quite a few veggies that dogs can safely enjoy, such as:

Broccoli

Broccoli is a good source of vitamin C for your pooch. Also, if you ask my dog, it is super delicious. She’s currently eating some right now mixed in with her dry food. I did have to microwave the meal for 45 seconds before she was interested in it. Did I mention she is spoiled?

Brussels Sprouts

Feel free to give your dog Brussel sprouts as a tasty treat! The AKC does warn, however, that it can make your dog a little “gassy.” I share my bed with my dog, so I usually refrain from giving her Brussel sprouts before bedtime. I can’t get a good night’s sleep with her tooting next to me.

Peas

My precious pup has a fondness for fresh and frozen peas. (Try saying that ten times fast).

Celery

Celery is another delicious snack that your pup can enjoy. Not only does it taste pretty good, but it can also help make your dog’s breath smell quite a bit better.

Carrots

I’ve never met a dog who doesn’t love snacking on some baby carrots. I personally think that they just like the crunch.

Spinach

The fact that pups can eat spinach is great news for any dog who idolizes Popeye.

Green Beans

My dog personally enjoys fresh green beans, but feel free to give your dog some from a can -- just make sure that it is unsalted!
