An Abandoned Bulldog's "Cinderella Story" Is All Thanks To Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus has proven once again that she is one of the biggest dog-lovers in Hollywood.
Earlier this month, she adopted her fifth rescue, an abandoned bulldog who was once a breeding dog.
On April 20, the dog, who was formerly known as Daisy, somehow found her way to Station 58 at the North Central Fire District in Fresno, California. She seemed to be in poor health and had fleas.
The station initially contacted animal control to help the pooch, but the request was unable to be fulfilled due to the pandemic. So, the pup spent the week sleeping at the firehouse and grew attached to the firefighters.
"It was kind of fun ... after a while every time they left on a call, the dog would run around to the front of the station where the fire engine pulls out and watch them leave for the call and follow us all around the station," explained Station 58’s deputy Jacob McAfee during a recent interview with CNN.
After a few days, the station’s captain Lucian Neely got in touch with his bulldog-loving brother about the dog and he agreed to foster her while trying to search for her forever family. Unfortunately, her health issues seemed to be too costly for many potential pup parents.
Thankfully, Wagmor Hotel and Pet Spa in Los Angeles ended up taking in the pooch and provided the necessary medical treatment. The adoption agency also took to Instagram in hopes of generating interest for the dog.
And that it did.
Miley, who had previously rescued dogs through the Wagmor Hotel and Pet Spa, contacted the agency’s owner, Melissa Bacelar.
"Miley texted me and said, 'All right, I'm obsessed,'" noted Bacelar.
The former Disney Channel star, however, had just brought home a German Shepard puppy, so she had reservations about adopting the bulldog. Instead, she decided to take the pooch to the filming of her music video for "Midnight Sky,” believing that a crew member may want to adopt her. When that didn’t work, Miley requested to keep her for a month and get her additional help for her many ailments.
During this time, Miley had fallen in love with the dog and wanted to officially make her a member of her furry family. She also changed her name to Kate Moss, in homage to the supermodel.
Bacelar has stated that she is thrilled the former stray has been given a second chance from a superstar.
“ It is just like a Cinderella story. All these people passed her up because she was a big problem. I was going crazy. What are the odds a sick dog with horrible teeth would end up living like a princess?” said the pet psychic.
Deputy McAfee shared similar sentiments, stating, "It's symbolic that she stopped at a firehouse, you know. Our members took care of her and she ended up having kind of a Cinderella story."
