Is Fish Oil Good for Dogs?

As responsible pup parents, we want to ensure that our furry friends are happy and healthy. This means we have to be conscious of their diet and any supplements we may be giving them. For instance, some dog owners may be curious if fish oil supplements are beneficial for their furry friends.

According to the American Kennel Club, fish oil supplements, which are chock-full of omega-3 fatty acids, like eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), can benefit your furry friend in a myriad of ways. For instance, PetMD reported that the supplements can improve your furry friend’s heart and kidney health. In addition, the supplement could also reduce our furry friends’ skin issues and the pain that comes with arthritic joints.

You should check with your dog’s veterinarian before introducing fish oil. If the vet determines that fish oil supplements are right for your dog, they can determine the specific brand and dosage you should give your furry friend.
