Dave Portnoy & His Beloved Pup, Miss Peaches, Raise $600,000 for Dogs in Need
Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy and his beloved rescue 6-year-old dog, Miss Peaches, were honored at the LifeLine Animal Project’s second annual, Good Human Gala, for raising $600,000 for pups in need. Portnoy and his gorgeous pit bull appeared on stage at the gala. During his speech, the businessman explained that he adopted his lovely lady two months ago with the help of the LifeLine Animal Project. He stated that after featuring her on social media, she shot up to stardom and “kind of captivated the world.” He also shared he believed his canine companion has “brought attention to adopting, not shopping.”
Portnoy then noted that the proceeds from Barstool Sports merchandise featuring Miss Peaches’ likeness go straight to several animal rescues, such as Paw Patrol Animal Rescue and Sanctuary, New York Bully Crew, LifeLine Animal Project, True and Faithful, and Muddy Paws Rescue.
“Hopefully Miss Peaches was put on earth to really bring a lot of notice and awareness to this issue. And she was born for it. She’s a natural born superstar,” said Portnoy.
In a March 2024 interview on "The Claman Countdown,” Portnoy shared that the Mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, caught wind of all the good work Miss Peaches, who was in a dire situation before her rescue, has been doing. The Barstool Sports founder stated that the mayor is calling May 20th “Miss Peaches Day” to promote animal rescue.
"I believe May 20th, the mayor of Miami is going to dedicate May 20th as Miss Peaches Day for animal rescue. She's going to get the bone to the city of Miami. So that's very exciting. She's more famous and popular than I am, and rightfully so,” said Portnoy.
