The Irish President's Dogs Steal The Show Wherever They Go
The President of Ireland, Michael D Higgins, is a proud pup parent to his adorable canine companions named Bród and Misneach. The gorgeous Bernese dogs can often be seen stealing the show during Higgins’ meetings and public addresses.
For instance, the 80-year-old couldn’t help but pet Misneach while addressing a crowd in August 2021, as reported by News 18. Quite a few Twitter users shared that they loved Higgins’ bond with his precious pup.
“He never leaves his beautiful pupper. Ever,” wrote one commenter.

According to the Huffington Post, the Irish president was accompanied by Misneach when giving a speech about late Irish actor Tom Hickey in May 2021. During the tribute, the pooch consistently pawed and nosed at his owner's pockets. Higgins eventually gave his dog a few pats.
The British royals even seem to have a soft spot for Higgins’ pups. The Irish Post reported that during a November 2021 trip to Ireland Prince William and Kate Middleton were introduced to Bród. The meeting was photographed and the pup proved he is not camera shy. When he noticed the paparazzi, the pooch walked toward the reporters, basking in the attention.
Higgins and his wife, Sabina Coyne, had another Bernese Mountain dog called Síoda. Unfortunately, the precious pup passed away in 2020. Higgins shared the devastating news in the Áras an Uachtaráin newsletter, which read “Sadly we must report that Síoda has passed away after a short illness.”

In December 2021, the president and his wife shared a festive photo that featured their canine companions. The picture showed Higgins, Coyne, Bród, and Misneach posing in front of a Christmas tree.
“Nollaig Shona! Merry Christmas!” read the caption of the post.
In March 2021, the account also shared a series of snaps that featured the president going on a walk with his canine companions.
Many commenters shared that they loved the famous dogs.
“Very sweet looking fur babys. Bernese are the best,” wrote one commenter.
“What beautiful fur babies!! ❤️,” added another.
“I love how much he loves his dogs. And his smile warms my heart. ❤️,” chimed in a third Instagram user.
