My dog has been on a weight loss journey. About two years ago, I was being pretty generous when doling out treats. If you saw my dog, you would completely understand my need to spoil her. Not only is she gorgeous, but she also has a sparkling personality.
Anyways, she was eventually deemed two pounds overweight by her vet. Now, this would seem like a non-issue. However, she was only 12 pounds, meaning she had to lose a significant percentage of her weight. Her vet suggested I substitute her usual treats with something less calorie-dense, like carrots.

According to the American Kennel Club, carrots are a wonderful snack to give your furry friends. The vegetable has a myriad of benefits, like being loaded with fiber and Vitamin-A. In addition, chewing on carrots can help your dog’s dental hygiene.
PetMD also suggests baking or boiling baby carrots to make a delicious warm treat for your furry friend.
It is also important to note that carrots may not be suitable for every dog’s diet. It’s always best to speak to your dog’s vet before introducing anything new to your furry friend.
