Amy Madigan’s Oscar Win Is Even Better Thanks to Her Sweet Tribute to Dogs
Amy Madigan took home the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress at this year’s Oscars. My dog and I are so happy that she won. For one, we love Weapons and think Madigan’s character, Aunt Gladys, is an absolute icon. Also, she gave a nod to her love of dogs during her Oscars speech, which we’re absolutely obsessed with.
When she got to the podium to accept her award, Madigan took the time to thank “people that mean something” to her. She started off by expressing gratitude to the director and writer of Weapons, Zach Cregger. She also thanked her fellow nominees, Teyana Taylor, Elle Fanning, Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas, and Wunmi Mosaku. Before thanking her husband, actor Ed Harris, Madigan gave a shout-out to all the canine companions out there.
“I want to thank my beautiful daughter, Lily, her husband, Shawn, of course all the dogs. But the most important is my beloved Ed, who's been with me forever and that's a long a-s time and none of this would mean anything if he wasn't by my side,” said Madigan in her speech.
Congratulations Amy!
