Amanda Seyfried Mourns Her Beloved Dog Finn, Who Changed Her Life Forever
Actress Amanda Seyfried announced the devastating news that her beloved dog, Finn, has passed away at the age of 16. Seyfried took to her Instagram account on July 24 to honor the beautiful boy.
“This one’s forever and ever,” wrote Seyfried alongside a picture of her and Finn next to each other.
If you are a fan of Seyfried, you know how much Finn meant to her. She even gave him a special shoutout when she won an Emmy for her portrayal of Elizabeth Holmes in the series, The Dropout.
Seyfried’s journey with Finn started when she adopted her canine companion in her early 20s after experiencing debilitating anxiety right when her career was taking off.

“I grew up with OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder) which I have overcome in a lot of ways. But even so, when I was living alone in Los Angeles in my early 20s, I felt really lonely and scared. I wanted my Mom to be with me, and that’s really difficult when you think that because you’re also thinking, ‘Oh, God, how can I not function as an adult without my mother? How embarrassing, how shameful,’” explained the actress in a 2019 interview with Express. “Then, when I was about 24, I got Finn, and he not only made me feel I wasn’t alone, he actually helped me to enjoy my solitude. These days, I thrive when I’m on my own, which is so freeing. There is so much that I don’t fear any more, just because of him.”
In an essay she penned for InStyle, Seyfried shared she did not enjoy being separated from her dog and made “sure Finn is allowed on set in all of [her] work contracts.”
In addition, Seyfried said Finn inspired her “to get more involved in animal advocacy” and make numerous videos for Best Friends Animal Society.
We’re so sorry for your loss, Amanda! Rest in peace, Finn, you very good boy.
