8 Dog-Friendly Houseplants
As a Millennial, most of my peers are settling down and starting their own families. Instead of having a child, however, I have decided to focus my attention on my pet and my plants. I figure this is better as neither my dog nor my foliage gives me much back talk, whereas a kid definitely would. That being said, my canine companion does scream at me if I feed her a little bit later than usual or if I’m not playing fetch correctly. I digress.
As a plant-loving pup parent, I have to keep in mind that not all greenery is suitable for households with hounds. Thankfully, there are few houseplants that will not harm your furry friend.

The Rattlesnake plant is an aesthetically pleasing tropical evergreen. That being said, it can be difficult to maintain. If you don't have a green thumb, it’s probably best to not purchase the plant.
Spider Plant
Not only do spider plants look cool, but they also do good. There is evidence that the chlorophytum comosum can purify indoor air.
Venus Flytrap

I, personally, am not a fan of venus flytraps as I have watched “Little Shop of Horrors” one too many times. However, it is perfect for you if you are into canine-friendly carnivorous plants.

The Areca Butterfly Palm is a stunning plant that is non-toxic for our furry friends.

Parlor Palms are a gorgeous addition to any household. I recommend placing the small palm in your living room as it is a beautiful focal point.
Echeveria

If you are a sucker for succulents, like myself, look no further than the echeveria. This super cute plant is safe for pets.

Orchids are a sophisticated touch to any dog-friendly home.

Those who are at-home chefs will appreciate that rosemary is a pup-friendly plant.
