Are Casper Dog Beds Worth The Price?
Casper Mattress has been helping humans sleep easily since 2014. Thankfully for pooches everywhere, the e-commerce company has decided to make canines one of their main clientele. Casper’s hybrid foam dog bed, made out of memory foam and durable support foam, was carefully designed to ensure pups will have a comfortable night's rest. The company has said to spent hundreds of hours testing the bed in their laboratory and go through over 110 prototypes to perfect a bed that is just right for your pup. The durable, machine washable dog beds start at $125. There are three sizes for the Casper Dog Bed. Pet parents can also choose from three different colors, blue, sand, and gray. The bed does come in separate pieces, which means dog owners will have to spend some time putting it together.
While the beds look super comfy, pup parents may wonder if it's worth the price.
In a 2019 YouTube video, Associate Editor & Video Producer at AppleInsider Andrew OHara, known for his product reviews, shared his thoughts about the dog bed. He noted that the bed is “extremely durable” and has useful features like “little pockets on the side that hide the zippers when they are not in use that makes it a little bit harder for dogs to try to pull on them and try to chew on them.” He also noted that the bed’s “suede type top that is very durable to dogs as they dig and play around.” In addition, OHara shared that the bed has withstood the wear of his two medium-sized dogs who “are heavy diggers.”
The bed also has received mostly positive reviews on the company’s website. The most recent reviewer gave the bed five stars, writing, “so fun to unpack and put it all together. The blue color matches the bedroom blinds perfectly. My golden retriever is exactly 60 pounds and still growing. Goldens top out around two years, and I think if I had seen the beds in person I might have chosen the size down. The large bed does not move around the house so it being a bit large is not really an issue. Definitely room for an additional springer spaniel.”
Another five-star reviewer asserted that the Casper Dog Bed is “top quality.”
“This was the best dog bed that I could find online. Made sense coming from a company that makes beds for humans. Actual product matches the description. I’ve only Had this bed for about a month. It seems pretty durable. My dogs like to “make their bed” by scratching/pawing at the bed. It will hold up well to that. The dogs enjoy laying in it. It is also aesthetically pleasing. My wife allows it out permanently in the living room. Although, basing the sizing on weight is silly. My Australian shepherds are 50lbs but we absolutely needed the larger one,” wrote the reviewer.
However, there are some dog owners who were unhappy with the product.
“I purchased the M-sized dog bed in Sand colour and I find the fabric of the mattress cover to be very unforgiving for every little stain from just normal dog use that you wouldn't otherwise see on other fabrics/surfaces my dog sleeps on e.g. my sofa. For such an expensive dog and "designed" dog bed you'd expect that it would be more repellent. Giving the 1-star also because of the sub-pard customer service response. when I flagged this issue to Casper reps,” wrote one reviewer.
“I purchased this bed in hopes that my dog would love this bed based on reviews but my experience leaves me to question the validity of some of these reviews. Maybe the product is great for humans but as far as my dogs concerned she'd rather sleep on an old 30 dollar dog bed. I tried to give the bed some time but the dog never used it. I tried returning it but since it was past the 30 days (36 days since date of purchase) they refused. Id recommend saving your money and not purchase this overpriced dog bed. Zero stars,” shared a different dog owner.
