'The Last of Us' Co-Creator Says Bella Ramsey's Rescue Dog 'is The True Showrunner'

Bella Ramsey stars as Ellie Williams, a 14-year-old who happens to be immune to the Cordyceps brain infection in the acclaimed HBO series, “The Last of Us.” According to Daily Hive, Ramsey adopted a precious pup named Skipper during the production of the show in Calgary. The adorable little lady was living at the CB Rescue before the “Game of Thrones” star decided to pick her up.

Skipper enjoyed her time on the “Last of Us” set with her super-talented owner. In an adorable video uploaded on the official HBO Max account, the show’s co-creator Craig Mazin can be seen holding the furry friend. He informed the cast and crew that Skipper is the real showrunner and needs to have certain demands met.

“This is Skipper. Skipper is the true showrunner because Skipper runs me and tells me what to do,” said Mazin.

When Skipper began to bark, the screenwriter joked that the rescue pup is “old school” with how she interacts with actors.

“She hasn’t got the memo about like being nicer and everything. She’s old school you know?” quipped Mazin.

Ramsey is not the only dog-lover on the “Last of Us” cast. For instance, Ashley Johnson, who provided the voice for Ellie in the “Last of Us” video games and appeared in the HBO series as Ellie’s mother, Anna, is a proud pup parent to two furry friends. Nick Offerman, who portrayed the Linda Ronstadt-loving survivalist, Bill, has a pup called Baloo.

The actress who played Ellie’s deceased love interest, Riley Abel, Storm Reid also has three canine companions.

In addition, Murray Bartlett, who played Bill’s partner Frank, revealed his canine companion helped him during the start of the pandemic. While speaking to The Guardian in 2021, the actor shared that “long walks with the dog and cooking” improved his mental health while quarantining.

The actress who portrays Tommy Miller’s (Gabriel Luna) wife, Maria, Rutina Wesley, also has a gorgeous pit bull named Isla
