The Cast of 'The Last of Us' & Their Canine Companions
For the last ten years, fans of the “Last of Us” video games have been clamoring for a television adaptation. Their prayers were finally answered when HBO released the “Last of Us” series, starring Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller and Bella Ramsey as Ellie Williams. I’ll be completely transparent, I initially watched “The Last of Us” because I have a massive crush on Pascal. However, I am now hooked because of the show's devastating storylines and the cast's incredible performances.
Anyway, I thought the best way to celebrate this series is to spotlight some of the show's stars who happened to be massive dog lovers.
Without further ado, here are the stars of “The Last of Us” and their canine companions.
Bella Ramsey
Bella Ramsey plays Ellie Williams, a sassy 14-year-old girl who has immunity to the cordyceps virus. The “Game of Thrones” star owns an adorable little pup.
Ashley Johnson
Ashley Johnson provided the voice for Ellie in the “Last of Us” video game. The actress also appears on the HBO series as Ellie’s mother, Anna. Johnson is a proud pup parent to two furry friends.
Nick Offerman
Nick Offerman gave an incredible performance as the survivalist, Bill, in the show’s third episode titled “Long, Long Time.” Like everyone else who watched the episode, I completely lost it. I’m not sure if I’ll be able to listen to Linda Ronstadt again without sobbing. I digress.
Offerman and his lovely wife, Megan Mullally, have a pup called Baloo, per Celebrity Pets.
Storm Reid
Storm Reid plays Ellie’s deceased love interest, Riley Abel. During a 2018 interview with Washington Post, the “A Wrinkle In Time” star shared that she has three canine companions.
“Prime is the boxer, Bella is the pit bull, and Cayenne is the red toy poodle,” stated the actress.
Murray Barlette
Murray Bartlett’s stunned as Bill’s partner Frank in “Last of Us” season 1, episode 3. The “White Lotus” actor revealed his canine companion helped him during the start of the pandemic. While speaking to The Guardian in 2021, the actor shared that “long walks with the dog and cooking” improved his mental health while quarantining.
Rutina Wesley
Rutina Wesley portrays Tommy Miller’s (Gabriel Luna) wife, Maria. The “True Blood” actress has a gorgeous pit bull named Isla.
