‘Star Trek’ Star Christina Chong Reveals How She Feels About Her Dog Runa Becoming a Fan Favorite
As a dog enthusiast and a Trekkie, you best believe I stan Runa Ewok (aka Princess Runa), who has made two amazing appearances in Star Trek: Strange New Worlds during its first and most recent fourth season. The very good girl is owned by Star Trek: SNW actress Christina Chong, who plays La'an Noonien-Singh.
In a recent interview with TV Guide, Chong shared her thoughts about her pups’ newfound fame among the Star Trek fandom.
“It's just amazing. What gives me so much joy is that she loves it. She just became, she completely entered this whole like, ‘Oh my God, this is what I was born to do.’ She would be extra happy coming to set because she knew she had a purpose and a task to achieve,” said Chong during the interview.

Chong also shared she was thrilled when she realized that Runa “absolutely loves acting.”
“She loves learning these new tricks. She had to hit marks. We had to teach her how to hit marks,” said Chong during the TV Guide interview. “We had to teach her how to do a lot of other things, which we won't see until the next season, but it was all kind of happening around the same time. And yeah, it was just a dream to be working with my little dog.”
The actress also shared that she decided to adopt Runa because she has PTSD and was looking for a service dog. Chong said she found a breeder and picked out Runa, who was the runt of the litter. According to the actress, her furry friend “passed her service dog test with flying colors.”
