Should I Feed My Dog Eggs?

My favorite snack is a soft-boiled egg (boiled for exactly 6 minutes). Everytime I eat the tasty treat, my dog gives me the world’s saddest look. It’s as if I did something incredibly cruel to her – which, I suppose I did by not offering her a bite of delicious egg.

Thankfully for my dog, canine companions can safely consume eggs, as reported by the American Kennel Club. In fact, they are pretty darn healthy as they “are high in protein, fatty acids, [and] vitamins.” That being said, you should thoroughly cook your egg before giving it to your furry friend as they could contact salmonella, which is not ideal. Also, the egg must be completely plain. While I prefer my eggs with butter and some salt, too much fat and sodium in your dog’s diet can cause major issues like pancreatitis and high blood pressure.

Also, even large breed dogs should only have one egg a day, no matter how much they beg. In addition, please consult your dog’s vet before introducing new food into your pup’s diet.
