Need a Reason to Love Zendaya and Tom Holland Even More? This Rescue Dog News Might Do It
I’ll be honest with you, Zendaya and Tom Holland’s press tour for Spider-Man: Brand New Day has been doing wonders for my mental health. I know I’m being way too parasocial, but I’m in love with their love story. Also, as individuals, they are talented, hard-working, and devoted dog parents. Seriously, what’s not to love?
The couple also happened to adopt (no shopped!) their newest furry friend, a very handsome lad named Phil. According to a news report from KRON 4, Phil was adopted from the Oakland, CA rescue Oakland Animal Services. As fans of Zendaya are aware, the actress is from the area.

Several fans shared their appreciation for Zendaya and Holland’s decision to adopt a furry friend from Oakland Animal Services in a Reddit thread.
"Ooh I also have a dog from the Oakland shelter, stars they’re just like us," wrote a commenter.
"Look, I know parasocial relationships are weird AF but they are just so kind and I wish them so much success and happiness! I’m rooting so hard for them," added another.
"I got my sweet girl from there too! They are an awesome organization and any publicity that helps the pups is amazing!" shared a different person.
"Oakland animal shelter has brought the most wonderful little friends into my life, and I'll always hold a special spot in my heart for them. Good choice for the Zen-Hollands!" commented a Reddit user.
"I love them even more 🐶," chimed in a fifth fan.
In a December 2025 interview with LADibble, Holland revealed that he didn’t ask Zendaya before bringing home the pup.
"I bought a dog the other day and did not run it by my girlfriend at all. I seem to remember running it by her - but I didn't because I'm really spontaneous,” said Holland.
According to Holland, Zendaya ended up having a “fine” reaction to his big decision. (Just a quick disclaimer: results may vary, especially if you aren’t as charming as Holland and Zendaya.)
Holland and Zendaya also share a 10-year-old mini schnauzer named Noon.
The husband-and-wife duo recently shared some new insight about Noon and Phil during a July 2026 interview with Buzzfeed. While Zendaya and Holland played with some seriously energetic puppies, the couple was asked a few dog-related questions. Holland revealed that Phil and Noon “have very different personalities.” In addition, Zendaya and Holland agreed that Phil would have thoroughly enjoyed playing with the puppies. However, Noon would have found it “very stressful.”
In addition, the couple revealed that Noon, who is 10 years old, goes by the nickname Mr. Noon, while Phil is often referred to by “the chunky man” and “cheese steak.”
