Meet the Dodgers’ Dogs: The Adorable Pups Behind the 2025 World Series Champions
The Los Angeles Dodgers are officially the 2025 World Series Champions! In celebration of the Dodgers’ incredible win, we thought we’d show off the members of the team who are devoted dog owners.
Without further ado, here are the Dodgers and their adorable canine companions (also known as Dodger dogs).
Shohei Ohtani
If you are a baseball fan or just a dog enthusiast, you likely know all about Shohei Ohtani and his wife, Mamiko Tanaka’s furry friend, Decoy. The very good boy threw out the first pitch for an August 2024 game. Shohei carried his canine companion onto the pitching mound, much to the delight of the spectators. Once on the mound, Decoy grabbed the baseball that had been placed next to him and ran to home base. After such an incredible pitch, Decoy and a smiling Shohei celebrated by high-fiving.
Some Dodger fans may not be aware that Decoy’s given name is Dekopin.
“So his name is Dekopin. That’s a Japanese name. I figured that it would be hard for American people to pronounce it, so he has an American name and it’s Decoy,” said Shohei during a December 2023 interview with MLB.com.
According to Kyodo News, Dekopin is “the Japanese word for flicking someone's forehead.”
Mookie Betts
According to a December 2021 Instagram post, Mookie Bets and his wife, Brianna Betts, own an adorable boxer.

Alex Vesia
Alex Vesia, who unfortunately was unable to attend the World Series due to a serious personal matter, is a proud pup parent to two adorable dachshunds.

Blake Snell
In a 2022 interview with Sports Illustrated, Blake Snell shared that his beloved dog, Junior, has been a source of support throughout his career.
“Whenever I’m upset or I [have] a bad day, I always go to Junior. He’s been through all of my rough patches since I’ve been in pro ball. … He understands,” said Snell.
