Lindsey Vonn Finds Comfort With Dog Chance After Heartbreaking Loss

Skier Lindsey Vonn is getting some much-needed comfort from her furry friend, Chance.

The skier who is recovering from several intense surgeries after her devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics shared that she’s been able to finally cuddle with her adorable spaniel, Chance. Vonn, who experienced a complex tibial fracture earlier this month, shared a video of Chance excitedly licking her while on her lap. Vonn happily embraced her dog while propping up her injured leg.

In the caption of the February 25 Instagram upload, Vonn shared that she’s been struggling following her accident and the passing of her other dog, Leo, who died on February 8.

“Reunited with Chance…. ❤️❣️Had a pretty hard day yesterday, everything just really hit me hard and I broke down. I know there will be a lot of days like this… the internal mental battle has just begun but moments like this help me so much. Just miss my boy Leo,” wrote Vonn.

In a February 18 Instagram upload, Vonn let her fans know that Leo had passed away at the age of 13. The post featured several pictures of her dear canine companion.

“This has been an incredibly hard few days. Probably the hardest of my life. I still have not come to terms that he is gone… The day I crashed, so did Leo,” wrote Von in the caption.

She then explained that her furry friend “had been recently diagnosed with lung cancer” after surviving “lymphoma a year and a half ago.” Unfortunately, “his heart was failing him,” and he was in pain.”

“As I layed in my hospital bed the day after my crash, we said goodbye to my big boy. I had lost so much that meant something to me in such a short amount of time. I can’t believe it. My boy has been with me since my second ACL injury, when I needed him most. He held me on the sofa as I watched the Sochi Olympics. He lifted me up when I was down. He layed by me, and cuddle me, always making me feel safe and loved. We have been through so much together in 13 years,” stated Vonn.

The athlete went on to say that “There will never be another Leo,” whom she described as her “first love.”

“Heading in for more surgery today. Will be thinking of him when I close my eyes. I will love you forever my big boy,” concluded Vonn in her caption.
