Lewis Hamilton Shares Upsetting News About His Beloved Dog Roscoe
Lewis Hamilton is sharing a heartbreaking update about his beloved 12-year-old English bulldog Roscoe.
In a September 26 Instagram upload, the British racecar driver shared that his precious pup is suffering from pneumonia. Unfortunately, the sweet boy is currently in a coma.
“Please keep Roscoe in your thoughts. I want to keep you all updated. Roscoe caught pneumonia again and was struggling to breathe. He was admitted into hospital and sedated to calm him while they did checks on him and during the process his heart stopped,” shared Hamilton in the post’s caption. “They managed to get a heartbeat back and now he’s in a coma. We don’t know whether he will wake from this. Tomorrow we’ll try to wake him up. I’m by his side and want to thank you all for your prayers and support.”
Fans of Hamilton know just how devastating this news is. The two are rarely not by each other’s sides.
According to Essentially Sports, the racing driver explained that he “tr[ies] to take him to as many as possible, because Roscoe’s getting old” while being interviewed by children in 2021.
“I don’t know how long I’ll have him around. So, I’m trying to keep him with me everywhere,” stated Hamilton.
He then asserted that Roscoe is his “best friend.”
“I can confide in him, and he brings me happiness every day. When I go training, he’s sad when I leave. And when I get back, he’s super happy. It’s a funny interaction!” stated Hamilton.
Hamilton had another English bulldog named Coco, who unfortunately passed away in 2020. The seven-time world champion shared the devastating news of the dog’s passing in a poignant Instagram post.
“Last night at around 9pm, my beautiful little girl Coco died at home with the family by her side. Her little heart gave in, we think it was a heart attack. I tried to revive her but it was no use. She’d had the best day, happier than I’d seen her in a long time. She was such a special dog, born with so many problems and I feel so lucky to have adopted her. Her breeder said she was going to have to put her down as she wouldn’t be able to afford all the things she would need to survive, she went through a lot to become the bouncy, lazy loving dog she was. On her last day, we shared a special moment playing together which I will never forget. I will miss her snoring and how happy she was always to see me. She was only 6, healthy and happy. Naturally, my heart is broken but i hope she’s in a better place with my Aunty Diane. I wanted to share with you and thank those of you who loved and cared for her. #coco #rest in peace," wrote Hamilton in the caption.
