Kerry Washington Reveals Why Her Puppy Has Had a Tough Time in Europe

Actress Kerry Washington is opening up about her European travels with her 6-month-old puppy, Cinnamon.

While speaking to People magazine in July 2024, Washington shared that she decided to take the Shih Tzu-Yorkie with her while she was shooting the upcoming film “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” in London. The actress also took her furry friend to Paris for Couture Week in June 2024.

According to Washington, Cinnamon is not used to the time difference in Europe. The actress explained she had to stick to an unusual walking schedule to get her dog adjusted.

"Six-month-old Shih Tzu-Yorkie Cinnamon has had a tough time. I was up walking her at 2 a.m. and 4 a.m. She's brand-new, so we're freaking out!" said Washington.

During the People magazine interview, Washington said that she and her husband, Nnamdi Asomugha, adopted Cinnamon because their children requested another dog. She referenced that her beloved dog Josephine Baker “Josie” passed away in 2021.

"They really have wanted a dog for quite some time, and my dog, Josie, passed away about three years ago, so it took my husband and me a while to be ready. We love Cinnamon,” said Washington.

Washington shared a heartfelt tribute to Josie in a May 2021 Instagram upload. The actress shared several pictures of her late furry friend. In the caption of the post, the actress explained that she “didn’t grow up with a dog” and was unaware of “what this kind of love could look like or feel like.”

“I didn’t understand how it would change me and transform my life. To say that Josie was a member of our family doesn’t even come close. She was my fur baby companion girl. She was my partner. She went places with me and experienced things that no one else ever did or ever will. She was a witness to my life and to my journey and me to hers. My heart unfolded when I met her and she will always live in the very fabric of my being,” wrote Washington in the Instagram post’s caption.

Washington introduced her fans to Cinnamon in a January 2024 Instagram post.

“Instagram, meet my new furbaby… Cinnamon,” read the post’s caption.

Several fans flocked to the post’s comments section to share their appreciation of Cinnamon.

“OMG ! So ADORABLE and those eyes 😍🥰 Enjoy your new baby Kerry,” wrote a commenter.

“Cinnamon is gorgeous Kerry!” added another.

“Awwww. Cinnamon is adorbz ❤️,” shared a different person.
