Jennifer Garner Mourns the Loss of Her Beloved Golden Retriever, Birdie

Actress Jennifer Garner is mourning the loss of her beloved Golden Retriever, Birdie.

In a heartbreaking Instagram upload, Garner shared that her furry friend, who was often featured on her social media, unexpectedly passed away at the age of nine. Garner shared several pictures of the beautiful little lady. In the caption, Garner shared some of her late dog’s best traits.

“Birdie loved to be read to, always found her way into a Pretend Cooking Show, and knew just how to give people what they needed (as evidenced by her happy days as a dog therapy team with Mo). She lived a happy dog life and is now in the role she was born to play: angel girl. It’s a gift to love and be loved by such a creature as Birdie the Doggie. 🐾,” wrote Garner.

As Garner mentioned in her Instagram post, Birdie helped children in need. In a February 2024 interview with WeRateDogs, Garner shared that her furry friend was a certified therapy dog.

“Birdie’s a therapy dog, and she just got a promotion to work at Children’s Hospital LA,” said Garner.

During the WeRateDogs interview, Garner also listed the reasons she absolutely loved her canine companion.

“They love us. They are kind. They show us kindness and loyalty and a lack of judgement. And I think you love something in the act of caring for them. So I think because dogs need us to care for them, we form that bond in that way,” said Garner.

Rest in peace, Birdie, you very good girl! We are so sorry for your loss Jennifer!
