Jamie Lee Curtis Honored Late Rescue Advocate Betty White In The Best Way Possible
The 2022 Academy Awards were certainly memorable! While one topic is on everyone’s mind, I think more people should be talking about actress Jamie Lee Curtis’s decision to honor Betty White, who passed away in December 2021.
During her tribute to the beloved “Golden Girls” star, Curtis spoke about how much White loved animals while holding an adorable rescue dog.
“Day in and day out for almost a century, she was a woman who cared so much for not just her two-legged friends but for animals just like this,” stated the “Halloween” actress.
Curtis asserted that “the greatest gift you could give Betty White is to open your heart and your home and adopt a rescue dog.” She then introduced the puppy in her arms as Mac and Cheese and noted that he was available to adopt at the rescue Paw Works, located in Thousand Oaks, California.
While on the red carpet, Curtis spoke to Access Hollywood and shared that she honored White’s memory by having a dress commissioned by fashion designer, Stella McCartney.
“I’m representing Betty White and Betty White was an animal rights activist and when I knew I was going to make a statement about her I went to Stella McCartney, who is an animal rights activist, whose mother Linda McCarthy was an animal rights activist,” stated Curtis.
After the ceremony, actor John Travolta revealed on Instagram that his son, Ben, adopted Mac and Cheese.
“Ben adopted this dog from last nights Oscar tribute to Betty White. Thank you @curtisleejamie & @pawworks,” read the caption of the post.
Several of Travolta’s famous friends congratulated him on his new canine companion.
“Yay you buddy Just just you 👏🔥❤️,” commented Sharon Stone.
“Aw..lucky boy. Lucky dog. ❤️,” added Michelle Pfeiffer.
Curtis also celebrated Mac and Cheese’s adoption on Instagram. On March 29, the actress uploaded a picture of herself posing with the precious pup.
“Ok. The LAST ONE I PROMISE! Too pretty not to post. Too important not to shed one more shaft of light on. People who rescue animals are heroes. They keep them safe and warm and well fed and well tended to until other people come along and offer their home and hearth and heart to these precious beings. @pawworks @perfect_pet_rescue @maedayrescue Betty White thanks you. I thank you. Stella McCartney thanks you. John Travolta thanks you. Mac and Cheese thanks you. Thanks @theacademy @people,” read the caption of the post.
Here at Woof Republic, we are so happy for Mac and Cheese! Enjoy your forever home!
