Gabriel Iglesias Welcomes New Puppy After Tragic Loss
Comedian and dog-lover Gabriel Iglesias is the new pup parent to an adorable Chihuahua puppy named Roka.
While speaking to People magazine in July 2025, Iglesias explained that he brought home the tiny pup after his two beloved Chihuahuas, Vinnie and Risa, had passed away following health issues. He also shared that his furry friends were constantly with him.
“I was grateful to have them for as many years as I did. The last eight years, they literally became my road dogs. They toured with me everywhere, visiting 40+ states," said Iglesias during the interview.
Iglesias also shared how he’s been adjusting to having a puppy in his house.
"The amount of energy a puppy has compared to a senior dog is night and day. It reminds me that I'm not getting any younger. All she wants to do is play, explore, and chew on things. She has more toys than I ever had as a child. All of her puppy energy does not allow for being sad, as I am too out of breath from chasing her,” quipped the comedian.
Iglesias famously threw a fantastic $100,000 Quinceañera for Risa’s 15th birthday in 2022. Iglesias opened up about the amazing party during a 2014 interview with We Rate Dogs. He shared that 400 people attended the event in celebration of Risa.
“It was one of the biggest parties I have ever thrown,” said Iglesias.
He also explained that he decided to throw the party after performing at Dodger Stadium.
“I wanted to have a party to celebrate the accomplishment. I thought it was awesome. I put aside money for a party,” said the comedian.
