Does Taylor Swift Own Any Dogs? Here's What You Need to Know

Here at Woof Republic, we are big fans of Taylor Swift. Not only does she write some pretty catchy tunes, but she also happens to be a devoted animal lover.

However, she doesn’t own any dogs and has a strong preference for cats.

In fact, she’s quite possibly the most famous “childless cat lady” in the entire world. As fans are aware, Swift is a devoted cat mom to three feline friends named Meredith Grey, Olivia Benson, and Benjamin Button.

During a 2014 interview on the “Ellen DeGeneres Show,” Swift announced that she had adopted Olivia. The “Anti-Hero” singer admitted that she rarely calls her beloved pet by her given name. She explained her goofy personality better suits the name Dibbles.

“She’s like a scrappy little cat. Her name is like Olivia but her personality is more like ‘hey guys it’s Dibbles,’” explained Swift.

Benjamin Button was Swift’s most recent addition to her family of furry friends. The “Midnight Rain” singer met the adorable cat while on the set of the music video “ME!” in 2019. In an Instagram Live video, Taylor shared she was instantly smitten with the kitten, who had been searching for his forever home. She explained the cat starred in the music video because he was a part of a program that encouraged the adoption of rescue animals.

“They did a program where they could get kittens adopted by putting them in commercials and stuff and oh my god, it worked,” explained Swift. “I fell in love, the woman who was handling him was like ‘before we do this shot with the kitten, do you want to hold him really quick just so you can get familiar with him’ and I was like ‘yeah, I do. I really want to hold the kitten’ and so she hands me this tiny cat and he’s just purring and he looks at me like you’re my mom. And we’re going to live together.”

It’s also worth noting that she played the kitty, Bombalurina, in the 2019 film, Cats.

Seeing as her boyfriend, Travis Kelce, is a dog person, Swift might eventually own a dog. After all,  she was fond of her mother, Andrea’s Great Dane, who interestingly enough, was named Kitty.
