Can I Give Cheese to My Dog?

Given that today is Valentine’s Day – I thought I would spotlight my love language -- cheese. Unfortunately, I have a complicated relationship with the delicious dairy treat, as I am lactose intolerant.

Given the discomfort that cheese brings me, it got me wondering if it would cause problems for my furry friend.

Fortunately for my furry friend, dogs can have cheese in moderation, as reported by Pet MD. We’re talking about a tiny little piece of cheese.

It’s important to note that some cheese is much better for your furry friend than others. For instance, cottage cheese, swiss, parmesan, cheddar, and mozzarella are decent treats to give your pup. However, you should refrain from allowing your pooch to munch on feta, brie, provolone, blue cheese, goat cheese, and cream cheese. All cheese with added herbs and spices is also an absolute no-go.

Please talk to your vet before giving any cheese to your furry friend! After all, they might be lactose intolerant (like me) and get a seriously upset tummy!
