Can I Give a Hot Dog to My Dog?

With the summer season in full swing, there’s a good chance that you’ll be eating quite a few hot dogs in the near future. This also means that your furry friend will be doing whatever it takes to convince you to give them a bite or two of the hot dog. 

Now, we know that hot dogs aren’t great for our canine companions. However, how bad are they?

Well, according to The American Kennel Club, they’re pretty bad. Not only is the food high in sodium, it has other ingredients like sodium nitrate, and garlic and onion powder, that super harmful to dogs. In addition, larger dogs may forget to chew when ingesting a hot dog, which can lead to a super scary choking incident.

So, needless to say, you shouldn’t give your dog a hot dog – no matter how hard they beg!
