Can Dogs Eat Butternut Squash?
When I’m in the kitchen, my furry friend becomes my shadow. If I happen to drop something while cooking, she will instantly start munching on it. For this reason, I try to be extremely careful when I cook.
However, sometimes accidents happen. For instance, I was chopping up some butternut squash and a piece dropped to the ground. Before I could react, my dog began eating the squash.
Thankfully, butternut squash is absolutely fine for our canine companions to consume. Now, before you start serving them up a bowl of butternut squash soup, you should know that only plain squash should be given to your furry friend. In addition, you’ll need to cut up and de-seed the squash before roasting it up for your canine companion.
According to the American Kennel Club, squash, in general, has several benefits for our furry friends. Not only is it full of fiber, but it also has plenty of vitamins.
Just a quick note – please speak to your vet prior to giving squash to your furry friend!
