April 11 Is National Pet Day
Pet parents rejoice -- April 11 marks National Pet Day! Pet lifestyle expert Colleen Paige founded the pawsome celebration 15 years ago. According to the event’s official Twitter page, the holiday”is a day to celebrate all animals that you consider your pets & to promote the importance of adoption,” specifically at a rescue or a shelter.
We recommend celebrating National Pet Day by pampering your furry friend even more than you already do. For instance, sneak them an extra treat (or two). or three. If the weather permits, consider going to a local dog beach or a hiking trail. I plan on taking my dog to a restaurant with at least a Michelin three-star rating. No expense will be spared.
If you have the means, consider visiting a local rescue and adopting an animal. Fostering is also an excellent way to help furry friends in need without the full commitment to pet ownership. In addition, rescues are always in need of volunteers and financial donations.
During the holiday, pet parents are also encouraged to head over to social media to share pics of their fur babies along with the hashtag “NationalPetDay.” (I, for one, would take the opportunity to have a full-blown photoshoot, but that’s just me.)
