Ahead of Queer Eye’s Final Season, Meet Jonathan Van Ness’s Many Rescue Dogs & Cats

Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness and their husband, Mark Peacock, are proud pet parents to five rescue cats and three rescue dogs.

If you are a fan of Van Ness, you know they often spotlight their furry friends on social media. For instance, Van Ness and Peacock showed off their three adorable rescue dogs, Elton, Rosie, and Georgie, in a May 2023 YouTube video

In the video, Van Ness said that Elton and Rosie were adopted from Safe in Austin, which was featured during the sixth season of Queer Eye

In addition, Van Ness explained that they and Peacock had to rehome their first rescue dog, Pablo, because of some behavioral issues. According to the hairstylist, Pablo now lives with his dog trainer, where he has had a wonderful time.

Van Ness also admitted that they had to convince Peacock to adopt each one of the dogs because he has reservations about having so many pets.

Van Ness shared details about their love of cats in a 2021 YouTube video. While filming the video, the reality television personality explained they adopted their first cat, Bug the First, who has since passed away, when Van Ness was in their early 20s.

After suffering from depression following their HIV diagnosis at 25, the hairstylist decided to get another kitty by the name of Larry. Van Ness explained that they were immediately drawn to the precious kitty because of his lively personality.

Van Ness also joked that Larry “moonlights as a meteorologist,” but is self-conscious about his profession as he never attended meteorological school.

Van Ness’s second-oldest cat, Liza Minnelli, was mistakenly believed to be a girl when he was first adopted. The reality television star revealed the rescue kitty is a survivor, as he was born with feline panleukopenia, which is typically fatal in kittens.

The Queer Eye star also shared that their cat, Matilda, is the sweetest of their furry friends.

If you want to see more of Van Ness, be sure to tune into the 10th and final season of Queer Eye, airing on Netflix on January 21.
