6 Fun Ways To Celebrate Halloween With Your Dog
A little-known fact about dogs is that they absolutely love celebrating Halloween. Unfortunately, it’s usually frowned upon to take your furry friend trick-or-treating (even though they deserve all of the treats). Thankfully, there are still plenty of ways to celebrate Halloween with your furry friend. Here are a few of our suggestions.
See If There’s A Local Costume Contest For Dogs
See if there is anywhere in your town that is hosting a costume contest for dogs. I recommend visiting local dog parks as there may be fliers posted there. You can also check Facebook groups to see if there are any nearby dog-friendly Halloween events.
If there is a costume contest in your area, be sure to sign your pooch up! I can’t think of a better way to spend Halloween than to parade around a pup in an adorable costume.
Host A Dog-Friendly Halloween Party
If you are friends with other dog owners, consider hosting a pup-friendly Halloween party. Obviously, you’ll need some dog-themed Halloween decor and plenty of snacks!
Bake Some Halloween Treats
I’m completely addicted to candy, which means that I adore Halloween. However, I feel pretty guilty when I’m devouring a bag of Reese’s pumpkins and I have nothing to offer my furry friend.
For this reason, I’m planning on making dog-friendly Halloween-themed treats so she can also have something delicious on All Hallows’ Eve. If you are interested in doing the same, here are 7 recipes for some super tasty (and slightly spooky) dog treats.
Have A Spooky Movie Marathon
My dog and I are major movie buffs. (She actually went to film school). For Halloween, we recommend watching “Scooby-doo 2: Monsters Unleashed,” “Frankenweenie,” and of course, “Spooky Buddies,” the fifth film in the “Air Bud” franchise.
Have A Photo Shoot
Even if you and your pooch are staying in for Halloween, it’s always fun to put on a costume. Consider dressing up as an iconic human and dog duo like Shaggy and Scooby, Dorothy and Toto, or Charlie Brown and Snoopy.
Have Your Pooch Help Pass Out Candy
If your pup can handle children, have them help pass out candy. My pup will not be participating in this as she dislikes kids, especially those who are “stealing her candy.”
