6 Pawsome Dog-Themed Holiday Movies

The holiday season is upon us, meaning it’s time to curl up on the couch and have a festive movie marathon. Now, I don’t know about you, but I’m obsessed with movies that heavily feature dogs. (“Marley and Me” is the exception – I have still not emotionally recovered from the movie).

If you have a similar taste in films, here are a few dog-themed holiday movies that you can enjoy with your pooch by your side.

How The Grinch Stole Christmas

“How the Grinch Stole Christmas” is a holiday classic. Who doesn’t want to watch a grumpy green guy try to sabotage all of Whoville on Christmas, only to enjoy the festivities with the Whos the following morning? I am partial to the 1966 animated film because, frankly, I find the live-action adaptation starring Jim Carrey a bit terrifying. No matter which version you watch, however, you can enjoy the presence of the Grinch’s trusty companion Max.

The Nightmare Before Christmas

I want to address the elephant in the room – there is some controversy on whether “The Nightmare Before Christmas” is a Halloween or Christmas film. If you were a former goth, like me, you know that it is perfectly acceptable to watch this film all year round.

Now, there are quite a few reasons to love “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” It tells the important tale of not stealing from other cultures and it’s scored by Danny Elfman. Also, Jack Skellington’s ghost dog Zero is absolutely adorable.

I thoroughly enjoyed “A Dogwalker’s Christmas Tale” when it first premiered in 2015. Granted I am a sucker for romantic movies, especially if the plot revolves around dogs.

Santa Buddies

“Santa Buddies” is the fourth film in the “Air Buddies” franchise. Now, this film has kind of a wild plot, but it’s worth it because that dogs are super cute.

One of my favorite movies of all time is “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” I actually own a replica of his pathetic little tree.

While Snoopy is not the main focus of the movie, he’s a total scene-stealer as per usual.

An All Dogs Christmas Carol

When I was seven years old, “An All Dogs Christmas Carol” was my favorite film. When I was allowed to pick out a movie at Blockbuster, you better believe it was this one. I’m not sure how I even found out about this movie because I still haven’t seen “All Dogs Go to Heaven” and “All Dogs Go to Heaven 2.”

As the title implies, this film is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’s classic novella, “A Christmas Carol," and you can never really go wrong there.
