5 Awesome Labor Day Activities To Do With Your Dog
Labor Day is just around the corner! For many Americans, this means that you will soon have an extended weekend. If you are like me and are not used to having time off, you may not know what to do with yourself. Well, if you have a canine companion, we, obviously, recommend that you spend the day with them. Here are some suggestions of what you should do this Labor Day with your pooch by your side.
Take A Hike
If there is a local hiking spot in your neck of the woods, head out on the trail with your furry friend. For the courtesy of other hikers, make sure that you keep your dog leashed at all times and pick up after them.
Have A Beach Day
Even though fall is right around the corner, most places in the US are still experiencing summer weather. This means that it is a perfect time to head over to your local dog beach. We recommend packing a picnic with plenty of dog-friendly treats.
Go To A Restaurant That Welcomes Dogs
Take your dog out to a restaurant this Labor Day. Look up establishments in your area that allow furry friends and make a reservation for two. Just be sure to tip extra good because the wait staff is having to work on a federal holiday.
Make Something Tasty
I know firsthand that some dogs can’t handle going to restaurants. My furry friend wants to fight every single dog who also happens to be at the same establishment. I think she’s under the impression that only one dog can be at a restaurant at a time, and she wants to assert her dominance.
If your pup is like mine, it might be best just to stay home and whip up something delicious for you and your dog. For instance, you may want to make your furry friend a special meal of unseasoned chicken and rice.
Have A Movie Marathon
On my days off, I like to curl up on the couch with my canine companion and watch a movie. While she usually demands we only watch films from the “Air Bud” franchise, she occasionally lets me pick out something. Cosmopolitan recommends having a movie marathon in honor of the American labor movement. The publication suggests watching films like “Office Space” and “Working Girl.” My dog and I will be watching “9 to 5,” as we firmly believe Dolly Parton is a national icon.
