Rescue Dog Gets Adopted By The Seattle Mariners

On August 6, the Seattle Mariners announced the team has a brand new recruit, who happens to be a furry friend.

According to MLB.com, the canine companion is a lab mix called Tucker, who was adopted from the organization OkanDogs, located in Cashmere, Washington. The rescue center announced the dog’s adoption on Instagram

“Batting next for the Mariners is TUCKER one of our very own Okandogs🐾⚾️Tucker was just adopted by the Mariners🤩 ,” read a portion of the caption.

The team’s director of Major League operations, Jack Mosimann, brought the 4-year-old pup out to Seattle where he received the title of the Mariners’ clubhouse dog.

According to Tucker’s official Twitter account, the precious pooch will “hang out at the ballpark all the time, travel with the squad and enjoy [his] very own unlimited supply of baseballs.” It sounds like an ideal life for any pup!

During an August 2022 interview with MLB.com, Mariners manager Scott Servais joked that the rescue dog “got scouted very heavily.”

“We ran people in there, and we cross-checked them. Jack ran in there. We got big-time numbers on this dog. So he went high in the Draft,” quipped Servais. “We're happy to have him as a free-agent addition to our club. Really good. This guy will fetch and play with the guys all day long. You'll see him out here running around the field here the next few days. He's got the clubhouse covered right now.”

He also noted that he believed Tucker shared similarities with the team’s first baseman, Ty France.

“I think Ty France, kind of laid back, California cool. There’s some of that, some of Ty France in him,” shared the team manager.

Tucker’s adoption will not come as a surprise to Mariners fans. Servais and his wife, Jill, are passionate about rescue and have worked as OkanDogs volunteers. Dogs are also available to adopt at the team’s "Bark in the Park" nights

“We’re just trying to bring awareness to rescues all over the state of Washington. There are dogs out there for everybody, and we hit a home run on this one. This little guy is great. Our players are excited about it. It’s a nice little distraction for them in the clubhouse. They love the little guy,” stated Servais.

Here at Woof Republic, we are so happy for Tucker! He’s officially our new favorite member of the MLB!
