Mikal Bridges' Sweet Reason for Bringing His Dog to the Knicks Parade Will Make Perfect Sense to Every Pup Parent

There’s a non-zero chance that Knicks fans didn’t notice that Mikal Bridges' adorable Labrador retriever, Sonny, was by his side during the June 18 parade in NYC.

When asked why Bridges decided to include his furry friend in the celebration, the forward had a simple response that all dog owners will understand.

“That’s my son right there. You know, he takes care of me, I take care of him,” said Bridges with a big smile while at the Knicks parade

Bridges is famously obsessed with his 8-year-old canine companion. And who can blame him?

In a May 2025 interview with ESPN, Bridges said that he spent the offseason with his Lab by his side, instead of traveling.

“A lot of people get on me because I don’t travel that much, but there’s reasons why. First off, I hate traveling a lot, and second, I hate leaving my dog through the season,” said the 29-year-old NBA star.

Bridges isn’t the only Knicks player who is a devoted dog dad. For instance, Jalen Brunson has two doodles named Stevie and Kona, Jeremy Sochan owns a sweet pit bull, Mitchell Robinson has dogs in the double digits, and Trey Jemison III owns a poodle mix.
