Lindsey Vonn Shares Heartbreaking News About Her Beloved Dog Just After Her Olympic Crash
Skier Lindsey Vonn shared absolutely heartbreaking news, less than two weeks after her devastating crash at the 2026 Winter Olympics.
In a February 18 Instagram upload, Vonn let her fans know that her beloved dog Leo Vonn had passed away at the age of 13. The post featured several pictures of her dear canine companion.
In the caption, she referenced that she experienced a complex tibial fracture, resulting in several surgeries, following the crash on February 8.
“This has been an incredibly hard few days. Probably the hardest of my life. I still have not come to terms that he is gone… The day I crashed, so did Leo,” wrote Vonn in the caption.
She then explained that her furry friend “had been recently diagnosed with lung cancer” after surviving “lymphoma a year and a half ago.” Unfortunately, “his heart was failing him,” and he “was in pain.”
“As I layed in my hospital bed the day after my crash, we said goodbye to my big boy. I had lost so much that meant something to me in such a short amount of time. I can’t believe it. My boy has been with me since my second ACL injury, when I needed him most. He held me on the sofa as I watched the Sochi Olympics. He lifted me up when I was down. He layed by me, and cuddle me, always making me feel safe and loved. We have been through so much together in 13 years,” stated Vonn.
The athlete went on to say that “There will never be another Leo,” whom she described as her “first love.”
“Heading in for more surgery today. Will be thinking of him when I close my eyes. I will love you forever my big boy,” concluded the athlete.
We are so sorry for your loss, Lindsey! Rest in peace, Leo, you beautiful boy!
