Jonathan Van Ness Adopts New Rescue Dog With The Help Of ‘Queer Eye’ Hero

“Queer Eye” star Jonathan Van Ness announced that they and their husband Mark Peacock recently adopted a new pup named Rose from the Safe in Austin Rescue Ranch, which was featured in the show’s sixth season. On July 23, 2022, the hairstylist took to Instagram to share several pictures of their furry friend. In the caption of the post, Van Ness shared that they rescued Rose after they decided to rehome their beloved dog, Pablo.

“My heart has been heavy since as you maybe or maybe not have guessed we had to rehome our Pablo earlier this year. We love him so much but with his temperament and my traveling & being around so many people made Pablo miserable. Luckily we have great friends who have taken Pablo and he is so so happy & thriving. But then there was my broken heart. I was so determined to make Pablo safe and happy at our home but I had to do what was best for him. But, I was literally devastated,” wrote Van Ness.

They shared that they contacted the founder of Safe In Austin Rescue Ranch, Jamie Wallace Grenier, who was the hero during “Queer Eye” season 6, episode 6.

“I called @safeinaustinrescue and asked Jamie if she had any pups who needed a home and she said yes ❤️ Remember Safe in Austin isn’t an adoption shelter, but rather a therapeutic shelter for animals and therapy place for people. Who also currently need donations and volunteers with an influx of abandoned pups ❤️,” read a portion of the post.

Quite a few fans congratulated Van Ness and Peacock on their newest addition to their family.

“I am so sorry about Pablo but sometimes even with the best of intentions (& a lot of work!) an animal doesn't work out for a particular family - you did the right thing. And Rose is adorable!!!” wrote an Instagram user.

“Yay congrats on the new baby 💓,” shared another.

“Congrats on new pup and on finding Pablo the best home for him!” chimed in a third commenter.

Van Ness and Peacock also own another rescue dog, called Elton, and four cats named Harry Larry, Liza, Matilda, and Genevieve. While speaking to People magazine in December 2020, the “Queer Eye” star discussed the importance of adopting furry friends in need.

"I just feel like shelters have given back so much to us and my adopted animal family has given so much back to me. My life has been so much better because I've had my animals in my life. I just love them so much,” said the 35-year-old.

They also encouraged fans to follow in their footsteps and adopt, not shop.

"Everyone has their own journey and their own experience with adopting animals, but I just think, go for it. It's just so worth it. They bring so much to my life. Spending time with them has always been so much fun. They're all just such amazing little babies,” stated the “Over the Top: A Raw Journey to Self-Love” author.
