Jessie James Decker Shares Emotional Goodbye to ‘First Baby’ Jakey

Country singer Jessie James Decker is sharing some sad news about her precious pup, Jakey.

In a March 16 Instagram post, Jessie let her fans know that she and her husband, NFL star Eric Decker’s beloved golden retriever, has passed away. The post featured several pictures of the very sweet boy. 

In the caption of the post, Jessie wrote that she was “heartbroken to share” that “Jakey has passed” just six months shy of turning 15. The mother of three also described Jakey as her and her husband's “first baby,” who “made us a family.”

“He was with us as we fell in love, got engaged, married, with us as we had all four of our children( he loved them so much), every chapter of our lives… he grew up with us,” wrote the singer in the caption. 

She also said that while her family was aware that her furry friend was at the end of his life, their “hearts are shattered into pieces.” 

“But I’m doing my best to focus on all the beautiful memories and moments we had together. Dear God why can’t dogs live as long as people? If you have any words of encouragement I will gladly take it. Eric and I are trying to stay strong for the kids but we find ourselves breaking into tears off and on. The kids are being so strong but this is not something we felt prepared for,” continued Jessie in the caption. 

She also noted that her family has another pup named Jenny. 

“We are hugging Jenny extra tight tonight since that is her brother who’s now in heaven. Hug all of your puppies tight. We are so lucky we get to have these beautiful animals in our world. Jakey we love you and we’ll miss you every day for the rest of our lives. What a beautiful gift you were to us🙏🏽 Rest easy Jakey. We love you forever sweet boy,” concluded Jessie.
