Inside Diane Keaton’s Special Bond With Her Golden Retriever, Reggie
Here at Woof Republic, we’re absolutely devastated at the news that Diane Keaton has passed away at the age of 79. Since her big screen debut in the 1970s, Keaton was an American icon. She was fun, fashionable, and obviously, super talented. Not only that, but the 75-year-old actress was also a devoted dog mom to a very good boy named Reggie.
In fact, her last Instagram post, uploaded on April 11 for National Pet Day, featured several pictures of the beautiful Golden Retriever.
The actress introduced her fans to her dog on Instagram in October 2020. The post included a video of the pup having an amazing time in what appears to be Keaton’s backyard.
“Hi there, hi, I just want to introduce my new dog, Reggie! Reggie’s her name!” said the “Something’s Gotta Give” star.
In the caption of the post, Keaton commented on her furry friend being rather energetic and questioned if she was actually “half horse” or just “insane.” She clarified she adored the precious pup.
After her official introduction on Instagram, Keaton shared quite a few humorous videos of her canine companion with fans. For instance, in March 2021, the actress shared a clip of her pup stealing a pair of her pants paired with the song “How Much Is That Doggie In The Window.”
“THINGS ARE GETTING VERY INTERESTING WITH REGGIE. I'm now LOSING MY SHOES AND CLOTHES. WHATS NEXT?#dogsofinsta #golden retriever,” wrote Keaton in the post’s caption.
The actress uploaded a similar clip in June 2021 showing Reggie running off with Keaton’s sneaker. Despite the actress’s pleas to get her shoe back, the pup refused to return her new prized possession and ran for the backyard. Keaton captioned the post “HELP! I JUST WANT MY SHOE!!!”
Keaton seemed to have a fondness for Goldens (and who can blame her). She had another precious pup by the name of Emmie, who died in 2021.
