9 Best Dog Parks In Seattle
In 2019, Seattle, Washington was named the most dog-friendly city in the United States. With over 14 off-leash dog parks, it’s no secret how the Emerald City managed to secure the title. Here are the 9 best dog parks in Seattle where people and pooches can have a howlin’ good time.
Magnolia Manor Park
Magnolia Manor Park was opened in November 2012, much to the delight of residents of the Magnolia neighborhood. The park has numerous amenities, including a dog water fountain and a “chuck it” game zone, where pooches can play fetch to their heart’s content. Visitors can spend the afternoon strolling the idyllic walking path and have lunch at the quaint picnic area. In addition, the park boasts a community P-patch. Just make sure Fluffy doesn’t slopper on any of the vegetables, otherwise you might be making some enemies in the Seattle gardening community.
Marymoor Dog Park Aka Doggy Disneyland
This dog park covers 40 acres which includes field, woods and a river, beach, paths, walkways, and bridges. This dog park. Each year over 800,000 visitations of people with their canine companions are made to Marymoor Dog Park each year, making it one of the most popular destinations for regional recreation! There are over six miles of looping trails offer a variety of dog walking opportunities. I used to take Pixie here and she would come out exhausted. Just know that your dog will come out VERY dirty! There is a dog washing station so we highly encourage you to use Wash Spot at Marymoor.
House of Ruff
During rainy, dreary days, when outdoor dog parks become a muddy mess, Seattle dog-owners can head over to the House of Ruff, on S Jackson St. The canine social club has a spacious indoor dog park, with the establishment’s beer and cider bar within a close vicinity. Pup parents can enjoy an adult beverage while their furry friend plays with their pals in a climate controlled area.
Warren G. Magnuson Off-leash Area
The Warren G. Magnuson off-leash area, located on Sand Point Way NE, has become a favorite playground for pups in Seattle. The fenced-in space spans for 8.6 acres, making it one of the largest dog parks in the Emerald City. There are two separate areas, one for larger dogs, and the other intended for small and/or anxious pups. The park also has gorgeous trails where people and their pooches can take a scenic stroll.
Golden Gardens Off-leash area
Rambunctious pups in the Ballard neighborhood can get their energy out at the Golden Gardens off-leash area. The new and improved park has an incredible agility course, where owners could, theoretically, train their dogs to become the next champion at the Purina Pro Plan Incredible Dog Challenge.
Voff Bark & Brew
While Voff Bark & Brew is technically a bar, it also makes for a wonderful dog park. 21-year-old and up patrons can bring their dogs to the bar’s spacious, wrap-around outdoor area, where there are kiddie pools that will keep dogs cool during the summer months. The bar has numerous events throughout the year, includingTrivia Tuesdays and outdoor movie nights. The entry fee is $8 per dog.
Genesee Park and Playfield
The off-leash area at the Genesee Park and Playfield consists of 2.7 acres of lush meadow. The gorgeous, fenced-in space is partially covered in gravel and has a water fountain just for doggos. The park is open, Monday through Sunday, from 4am to 11:30pm.
Luther Burbank Park
While Luther Burbank Park is about 20 minutes from downtown Seattle, your pooch is sure to thank you for making the trek. That is, unless they absolutely despise water-based activities. In that case, it’s best to skip out on going to this park, as it spans 77 acres along Lake Washington’s shore. Water-loving dogs, however, do have the option to explore a majority of Luther Burbank Park as long as they are on a leash. If your pooch simply cannot be restrained, head over to the park’s north end where there is a sizable off-leash dog park with access to the water.
Northacres Park Off-Leash Area
The off-leash area at Northacres Park has all the amenities that make for an excellent dog park experience, for both humans and hounds. The park is covered in wood chips, ensuring your pupper's paws won’t get too muddy, and there are doggies waste bags at hand. It is worth mentioning that the park will be closed from February through March for renovations.
After going to the park, I recommend heading over to the popular cafe Bark Espresso on Roosevelt way, that is within walking distance, for a tasty treat. Dog are always welcomed on the outdoor patio and if you make a special reservation, they can actually sit inside with you.
