6 Dog-Friendly Establishments In San Francisco
It goes without saying that San Francisco is one of the greatest cities on the West Coast. However, SF can be a little overwhelming with a dog in tow. The city streets are lined with people so if you happen to have an anxious pup, you might be a little desperate to find a safe haven. That being said, if you aren’t all that familiar with the city by the bay, it can be difficult to find establishments that are dog friendly. To make things a little bit easier for those who are planning a visit to San Francisco, here are some cafes, bars, and restaurants where your pooch is welcomed to sit and stay a while.
Park Chalet Coastal Beer Garden
If you and your pooch are in the mood for seafood, head over to the Park Chalet Coast Beer Garden. The scenic spot is known for its Fisherman's Catch seafood boil. Make sure Fido packs a bib, as the meal is on the messier side. Those who are 21 or older can also order one of the restaurant's house brewed beers. The beer garden is open on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays and is located at 1000 Great Hwy, San Francisco.
Bender's Bar & Grill
Bender’s Bar & Grill, located on Westminster Blvd., makes a huge effort so that pooches feel included. As you sip on a craft beer and eat some boneless wings on the spacious patio, your pup can munch on a complimentary treat or two.
Rose's Cafe
Rose’s Cafe, an organic, Italian bistro, has a menu full of delicious pastries, including house made dog treats, that can be enjoyed with your furry friend at one of the establishment’s sidewalk tables. The quaint cafe can be found in the Cow Hollow neighborhood and is opened daily from 7:30am–4:30pm and 5:30–9pm
Duboce Park Cafe
Duboce Park Cafe is so dog-friendly that it actually has a dog on its logo. The restaurant is a popular brunch spot in the Duboce Triangle neighborhood and for a good reason. Not only is the food delectable, it is also mostly organic and farmed sustainably. The cafe also serves Mitchell’s ice cream which is a major bonus.
The Homestead
The Homestead, opened from 2am to 2pm, is one of the few places where your dog can basically belly up to the bar. Well, at least, they can enter the Victorian-style establishment, without having to first secure a fake ID.
The Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop
No trip to San Francisco is really complete without getting something sweet at The Original Ghirardelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop. While your pooch may be rightfully annoyed he really can’t have anything from the menu, he’s welcomed to sit by you at the outdoor patio as you enjoy your tasty treat. The World Famous Hot Fudge Sundae is highly recommended.
