Best Dog Parks In Los Angeles

While Los Angeles is an amazing city that has a seemingly immeasurable amount of activities, it can be a difficult place to navigate with your dog. Many popular establishments in LA aren’t exactly the most dog-friendly. It’s typically frowned upon to bring Fido to a Dodgers game outside of Bark at the Park Night (despite the fact they would love a Dodger dog) or to The Broad (even though he has an astute appreciation for modern art.) The Hollywood Walk of Fame is also a no go, as adults roaming around dressed as Sesame Street characters would most likely be a frightening experience for your pooch.

Thankfully, the City of Angels has so many wonderful dog parks, where you and your pup can have the time of your lives in a clean, safe environment.  Here are the 4 best dog parks in the Los Angeles area.

Lake Hollywood Park

Hands down, my favorite dog park in LA is the Lake Hollywood Park. However please know that there are some caveats. This is technically not a dog park but is very popular to bring your dog to visit. There is a sprawling grass patch which is very hard to come by in LA. If you are caught with your dog off its leash you could get a $100 dollar off-leash ticket. But please do not let this scare you off, it is worth the visist!

This dog park is an ode to classic Hollywood and you are able to get an incredibly iconic photo of your pup so it’s perfect for an Instagram photo opp.

Grands Park Off-Leash Dog Park

Grands Park has an amazing off-leash area where dogs are free to gallivant to their heart’s desire. The sizable park has numerous trees that will protect pups from the sun during the sweltering summer months. In addition, its aesthetically pleasing hot pink benches can be a perfect place for an impromptu dog photoshoot. Who knows, your pup may be the next big Instagram star. After all, it is LA.

Those who have to get to work early will appreciate the fact that the park opens at 5:30 am.

Bluff Creek Dog Park

Bluff Creek Dog Park, in Playa Vista, offers lovely play areas for dogs, both big and small. The park is extremely well facilitated with drinking stations, tennis balls, doggie waste bags, and plenty of places to sit and stay a while. Dogs and their owners are welcomed at the park from 7:00am to 6:00pm.

Hermon Dog Park

Hermon Dog Park has been a preferred spot for pups and people in the Northeast Los Angeles area since 2005. The volunteer-run park has flea-resistant decomposed granite paving, ensuring your pup will stay nice and clean even on rainy days. The park is also known for its numerous, dog-friendly events held throughout the year, the most popular of which is HOWL-oween. The spookily fun event features both a costume and “peanut butter lick-off contest.”

West Hollywood Dog Park

The West Hollywood Dog Park, located on San Vicente Boulevard, consists of two off-leash areas, with one designated for big dogs and other for pups of the smaller variety. The park boasts springy, environmentally friendly artificial turf, that dogs absolutely love to play fetch on. Puppers can cool down after running around by getting a drink at one of the dog water stations. The West Hollywood Dog Park is open everyday from 6:00am to 12:00am, with the exception of Wednesdays from 9:00am to 11:00am due to scheduled maintenance.
While this does not necessarily pertain to the quality of the park, it is worth noting that it is within a short distance of Vanderpump Dogs, owned by everyone’s favorite dog-obsessed former Real Housewife, Lisa Vanderpump. If you and your dog are Bravo fans, you can stop by the establishment after spending the afternoon at the dog park and get your pup groomed.

The Boneyard (Culver City Dog Park)

Where Dogs go to Play!! This dog park encompasses one-acre and is a great aggregation of the melting pot of dogs and humans in LA. There are two areas one for pups over 25 pounds and the other accommodating for small and timid dogs. I love this park because I find that it is a bunch of people who love their dog and a great group of dogs as well.

My only caveat on this dog park is that it is a synthetic material that can be tough on your pup’s pads. I have to bring her boots to ensure that her pads don’t suffer as she is running and playing fetch. This park is a melting pups of the Top Dogs of LA.
All of the dog parks in LA are great but these are Woof Republic’s favorites! In LA, be sure to avoid the puparazzi that are always on the hunt for adorable pups!!
