Best Dog-Friendly Restaurants in Portland

Portland is a thriving city, possibly best known for its craft microbreweries, amazing local artists, artisanal coffee shops, and affinity for fixed-gear bikes. Thanks to the IFC sketch comedy show Portlandia, the City of Roses is also often viewed as the hipster capital of the world, much to the chagrin of locals. What many may not know, however, is that Portland natives are also quite passionate about pups. In November 2022, Forbes named Portland the fifth most dog-friendly city in the United States. The high ranking only makes sense, as Stumptown is home to incredible dog-friendly restaurants, enjoyed by both people and pups alike. Here are eight popular spots to take Spot in Portland.

Leisure Public House

The Leisure Public House, located at 8002 N Lombard St., is a hip place for hounds and humans. The restaurant is known for its hot press sandwiches, which include a pastrami reuben, an applewood smoked bacon, and a parmesan breaded eggplant.

Tin Shed Garden Cafe

The Tin Shed Garden Cafe on Alberta Street takes great pride in being an exceptionally dog-friendly establishment. Pups are welcome to relax on the restaurant’s patio and have a delicious meal made just for canine companions.

The Rambler

Pups can enjoy the popular Historic Mississippi Avenue District restaurant, The Rambler. Even when the weather isn’t super warm, you and your furry friend can spend time on the patio, as there are firepits and plenty of heaters. Popular menu items include the Toronado Potatoes, Rambler Poutine, and Frito Pie.

White Owl Social Club

As the name suggests, the White Owl Social Club is a great place for you and your pooch to socialize. However, if you are on the younger side, be aware that this establishment is geared toward the 21+ crowd.

Salt & Straw

I can’t think of a better way to spend a summer day in Portland than to get a few scoops of ice cream from Salt & Straw with your furry friend. Your precious pup can even enjoy a dog-friendly flavor!

Voodoo Doughnuts

While some locals will argue Voodoo Doughnuts is overrated, the establishment is worth a visit. Not only are the doughnuts pretty darn tasty, but the shop is also welcoming to furry friends.

Por Que No? Taqueria

If you and your furry friend are craving some delicious tacos, look no further than Por Que No? Taqueria, which has two locations on Hawthorne Blvd and 3524 N Mississippi Ave.

Southpark Seafood Grill & Wine Bar

Southpark Seafood Grill & Wine Bar is a classy spot that allows canines. If it was up to my pup, she would get everything off the menu, which includes, king salmon, smoked New York steak, and seafood paella.
