6 Ways To Celebrate St. Patrick’s Day With Your Canine Companion

St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner, and my dog and I are super excited! We love celebrating the holiday, especially in fun and unique ways. Here are some of our best ideas.

Make Shamrock Shakes

I love Shamrocks Shakes, but unfortunately, I am lactose intolerant. This means I haven't had one of these bad boys from McDonald's in about ten years.

The good news is that I can easily whip one up with dairy-free ice cream, using this recipe.

So that my dog does not feel left out, I make her a dog-friendly version. Full disclosure – I just give her a green smoothie using spinach, carrot, cucumber, and coconut milk. What can I say, she’s much healthier than me.

Take Pictures With Clovers

My dog never turns down an opportunity to have a full-blown photoshoot. In past St. Patrick’s Days, we have gone to our local park, so she can pose amongst the clovers.

Make A Traditional Irish Meal

Growing up, my dad always made corn beef and cabbage for St. Patrick’s Day. I am currently a vegetarian, so I’ll be eating a meat-free shepherd's pie in honor of the holiday. And I am going to whip up a modified version for my dog. (She’ll be getting some unseasoned peas, carrots, and potatoes.)

Bake Some St. Patrick’s Treats

In my household, no meal is complete without a dessert. I typically make myself an Irish Apple Cake in celebration of the holiday. As for my dog, I’m going to try out one of these recipes this year.

Go To An Irish Pub

If you are not a fan of cooking, I recommend going to a traditional Irish pub for a meal. Just make sure that it is dog friendly, so your pup won’t miss out on any of the fun.

Wear Matching Green Outfits

Before you go out on your excursions for the day, be sure that you and your dog are wearing matching green outfits.
